T4A and NR4 slips have been mailed to SHEPP pensioners and to those who terminated SHEPP membership and received a taxable lump sum payout.

Your T4A includes important pension income and tax information that you will need to complete your 2023 income tax return. Learn more about T4As and income tax.

Pensioners can now access a copy of their T4A by signing in to SHEPPweb.

Employees of SHEPP participating employers who are not in a permanent full-time or permanent part-time position will receive notification from 3sHealth in December or January if they have become eligible to enrol in the Plan.

If you choose to join the Plan once becoming eligible, you immediately begin building secure and predictable lifelong retirement income.

A Third Amending Agreement to the SHEPP Agreement and Declaration of Trust was recently signed by the Partner Committees, which now allows for Trustees to receive remuneration from the Plan for their participation on the Board.

Trustee remuneration is not intended as a salary, rather, it is recognition for their time and effort attending to Plan matters. Since establishing SHEPP's current joint-trustee structure in 2002, Trustees had served without remuneration from the Plan.

The Canadian Public Pension Leadership Council (CPPLC) released new research examining how Canadians' perceptions of retirement may have changed from 2016 to 2022, years that included the COVID-19 pandemic and high inflation.

CPPLC commissioned Pollara Strategic Insights to perform a poll of Canadians asking many of the same questions put forward in a 2016 survey.

Read the study, The Pensions Canadians Want: Perceptions of Retirement (2016 - 2022) which compares the results of both polls to see how people's retirement perceptions have shifted.

SHEPP's 2022 Annual Report is now available, providing a comprehensive overview of the Plan's financial position, funded status, investments, and administrative services.

Highlights from the year include investment performance of 3.1% over benchmark and total assets of approximately $9.3 billion at year-end.

You can also view your statement online by signing into SHEPPweb. If you have any questions about your statement, please contact our office by phone or email.

Your Annual Pension Statement has been mailed. Be sure to review your statement carefully as it contains important information including your designated beneficiaries, pension estimates and a summary of the benefit entitlements you've earned up to December 31, 2022.
