Did you know you may be eligible to maximize your pension by purchasing service?

SHEPP has service purchase options available which would positively impact your pension amount and could help you retire earlier with an unreduced pension.

Current service can be purchased during a leave of absence, subject to certain time limits, by remitting both yours and your employer's contributions. Eligible prior service can be purchased for past periods of employment when you were not contributing to SHEPP like parental or education leave, or casual and temporary positions before joining the Plan.

You can purchase prior service at any time as an active member, but it's a good idea to explore this earlier as the cost generally increases over time.

To learn more, see Purchasing Credited Service under the Members section of our website.

A Third Amending Agreement to the SHEPP Agreement and Declaration of Trust was recently signed by the Partner Committees, which now allows for Trustees to receive remuneration from the Plan for their participation on the Board.

Trustee remuneration is not intended as a salary, rather, it is recognition for their time and effort attending to Plan matters. Since establishing SHEPP's current joint-trustee structure in 2002, Trustees had served without remuneration from the Plan.
